Raggamuffin Georgie
Ragamuffin Dolls are inspired by cartoon characters from the 1930s. I imagine these dolls to be house maids, off duty circus performers or maybe a farmer's wife…or maybe just a layabout.
Ragamuffin Dolls are made with a rustic yet soft tea dyed linen. I loosely stuff their bodies with Canadian wool to give a floppy worn appearance. I’ve made their clothing from precious cotton & linen scraps from my own handmade wardrobe and even more precious antique fabric finds. Their quirky faces are a mix of paint and embroidery while their hair is a handmade mohair wig. Finally I blush her cheeks with artist's pastels and a label of authenticity is stitched in place.
