My Raggedy Sue dolls are inspired by both Raggedy Ann & her little-known knockoff Shoe Button Sue. Both dolls appeared on the market in the early part of the 20th century.

Raggedy Sue is made with a strong, smooth cotton, her eyes are Victorian shoe buttons and her curly orange hair is a hand made wig from suri alpaca. Her body is stuffed with Canadian wool and her arms are filled with crushed walnut shells to give a floppy feel. Fuzzy black shoes are cut from a vintage wool coat and I’ve made her clothes from precious cotton & linen scraps from my own handmade wardrobe. Her dress features carefully hand stitched pockets and is topped with a sweet, removable sailor collar. Finally, her cheeks are blushed with a natural beeswax crayon and a label of authenticity is stitched in place.

Every doll is hand made by me in my studio with love and under a scrupulous eye. I use carefully selected new & antique materials of the highest quality. My process ensures each doll is one of a kind and will be a cherished friend for years to come.
